GMB Union members and councillors donate much-needed sanitiser to Northfield Foodbank

MUCH-NEEDED hand-sanitiser has been delivered to Northfield Foodbank by members of the GMB Union and Birmingham councillors Olly Armstrong and Alex Aitken.

The consignment, organised by the two councillors after seeing similar donations in the city, was taken to the Allens Cross Centre.

Richard Clarke, GMB Birmingham Public Services Branch President, said: “This is yet another shining example of our members looking out for the people who need us most.

“Our community-minded members are working around the clock to ensure nobody gets forgotten in these difficult times




“This is what solidarity is all about, standing by people and looking after them like family, pulling together through dark days and coming through stronger.”


The foodbank, which is in desperate need of tinned food and tinned meat.

It is open at the Allens Cross Centre from 8.30am to 2pm, Monday to Friday.

A spokesperson for the foodbank said: “The community has shown great spirit with its donations so far but we do need more so if anyone can contribute items, we would be very grateful.”
