Flood warning in place for River Rea

Bromsgrove Editorial 29th Sep, 2019   0

A FLOOD warning has been issued for the River Rea in South Birmingham.

Longbridge, Northfield and Kings Norton could all be affected between now and tomorrow morning.

The warning from the Environment Agency extends from Longbridge, all the way to North Birmingham.

Flooding may affect low-lying land and roads adjacent to the river and water levels are expected to remain high until later tomorrow morning.

Environment Agency incident response staff are actively checking river levels and the weather forecast. Please plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded and avoid using low lying footpaths and bridges near local watercourses.

On Tuesday amidst torrential rain the River Rea swelled and three people in a Land Rover Defender in Northfield needed rescuing by the fire service near the Mill Lane ford.
