A FLAG flying ceremony took place at Crown Close on Monday morning to show support for the Armed Forces.

A small gathering got together to pay their respects in preparation for National Armed Forces day – which is on June 30.

Bromsgrove District Council Chairman, Coun Caroline Spencer, invited residents to join her for the event near Amphlett Hall and Bromsgrove’s War Memorial.

After the flag was raised by Coun Spencer, a two minute silence took place.

Coun Spencer said: “We have proven that this community cares about the men and women in our Armed Forces.

“We raised the flag for those brave people, past and present.”

Patrick Smith, from Bromsgrove Royal British Legion, added: “It’s important we mark this occasion each year to celebrate the achievements of the Armed Forces.

“Not only that – I think it’s important to remember the men and women, from the past and present who continue to protect this country.”

Jules Evans, Bromsgrove’s Poppy Appeal Organiser, said: “We will continue to show our support to the Armed Forces and Royal British Legion.”
