THE FIRST semi-final places were booked in this year’s Search for a Star at the Austin Sports and Social Club in Longbridge on Saturday.
Baz from Cotteridge sang Halleluja and songs from Barry White while Hayley Jones from Redditch delighted the judges with her renditions of Killing Me Softly, This is a Man’s World, Son of a Preacher Man and I Will Never Love Again.
The furthest travelled, Tom Heasgrave from Nottingham booked the third place by performing Man in the Mirror, Treat You Better, Perfect and Say You Won’t Let Go in his set.
The second heat takes place on Saturday, January 18, at 8pm and admission is £3.
