THE FAMILY of the woman who died in the crash on the A38 in Wychbold have described her as a ‘loving and selfless’ person who devoted so much of her time for caring for others.

Gail Lewis, 74, from Rubery, died when the silver Toyota Yaris she was travelling was involved in a crash with a Citroen C4 just after 4pm on bank holiday Monday.

An ambulance which was passing and stopped at the scene and three more ambulances were sent, along with two Midlands Air Ambulances and a MERIT doctor.

Sadly nothing could be done to save Mrs Lewis.

Her daughter Michelle said: “We have been so moved by all the lovely messages that so many friends, neighbours and strangers have sent and, as a family, we would like to thank everyone for their love and support.

“However, we do ask that people who want to contact us directly please don’t at this time while we come to terms with our loss.

“We would also like to thank all those in the emergency services who worked so hard to treat our mum on Monday, and for the care and respect they showed her and the whole family.

“We all love her so much and we will miss her terribly.”

Three other people were taken to hospital after the crash – two to the Worcestershire Royal and one, with serious injuries, to the Trauma Unit at Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Another person was discharged at the scene.

The A38 was closed for several hours while the emergency services dealt with the incident, recovered the vehicles and cleaned up a fuel and oil spill.

The police investigation is ongoing as officers try to piece together exactly what happened.

They have urged any witnesses, anyone with any dashcam footage or anyone with any information to call them on 101.
