Expectant mums in Bromsgrove urged to still attend all appointments

HEALTH bosses are urging expectant mums to still attend all appointment and seek support when they need it.

Local health and care leaders are supporting a national campaign encouraging pregnant women to attend any midwife or maternity appointments and seek advice should they have any concerns.

The Regional Midwife for the Midlands praised NHS maternity teams earlier this year for providing high quality care in the face of the most significant challenge to ever face the health services, and urged new and expectant families to continue to come forward for routine checks and urgent advice.

Despite this, health leaders are concerned that fear of contracting the virus is leading to some women not attending routine appointments, or not getting in touch with their midwife or maternity team as quickly as they usually would with any concerns.

Dr Louise Bramble, Clinical Lead for Women and Children for NHS Herefordshire and Worcestershire CCG said: “It is absolutely essential that women continue to attend all appointments, including scans and antenatal checks, to ensure that they and their babies are staying well.

“Maternity services remain open for every pregnant woman.”
