A FUN-PACKED Community Winter Picnic will take place at Parkside in Bromsgrove next Saturday.
The free event, from 11am to 3pm, will feature food, dance and story-telling from different cultures, along with face-painting, crafts and live entertainment.
Bromsgrove District Council’s community cohesion officer Basia Ligas said similar events in other parts of the county had proved highly successful.
“People of all ages have had so much fun getting to know others from neighbouring communities who they may never get to meet as part of their day-to-day life.”
As well as trying food from around the world, participants can ‘bring and share’ a picnic for everyone to tuck into.
Coun Philip Thomas, whose portfolio covers Cultural Services, said: “Often our days are so busy we tend to socialise in quite small circles.
“This event will open up opportunities to meet the representatives of other communities and to experience other cultures too.”
It has been organised by the district council in conjunction with the county council’s Library Service, the European Connections Forum and Talk to Me: Bromsgrove as well as several other charities and organisations.
Food sampling in the main hall runs from 12pm to 2pm.
