A DOG was shot dead by police in the early hours of yesterday morning after it attacked a woman in Rednal home.
Ambulance staff called police to the incident which happened in Rise Avenue around 1.45am.
After the attack the 38-year-old woman was taken to hospital where she remains in a serious but stable condition.
A police spokesperson said: “Officers attended the address and due to the circumstances they were faced with had no choice but to put the dog down.”
The owner of the dog is assisting police with their enquiries.
