Do a marathon 'Walk Your Way' to help The Stroke Association

PEOPLE in the West Midlands are being urged to ‘walk their way for stroke’ and undertake a marathon challenge later this month, writes Amy Rose Willis.

Participants will be tasked with walking 26.2miles at their own pace between June 17 and 30 to raise funds for The Stroke Association.

#WALKYOURWAY enables those who sign up to choose when, where, how they walk with the distance being spread out over the two weeks, a few days, or done all in one go.

The Stroke Association’s fund-raising manager Joanne Burr said: “Walking is a great way to help improve your overall health.

“It can also contribute to reducing your risk of having a stroke.”

Every five minutes, someone in the UK suffers from a stroke. It can affect anyone and when it strikes, part of your brain shuts down, instantly changing your life. With the right support from a specialist, it is possible for your brain to adapt.

The charity takes part in campaigns, specialist support and research.

Without the help of the generous public, none of this would of ever been made possible.

Bromsgrove is home to the only Life After Stroke Centre in the UK, helping hundreds of survivors rebuild their lives every year.

Visit www.stroke.org.uk/walkyourway for more information and how to register.

People can share their adventures online, using the hashtag #WalkYourWay
