A DIAMOND ring donated to a Bromsgrove jewellery shop is being auctioned off to raise funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Cupitt Jeweller on The Strand wants residents to bid for the pre-loved item through its silent auction.

It is a nine-carat white gold half eternity ring which has round brilliant baguette of diamonds in a bar setting.

People can either bid in person at the shop or at facebook.com/cupitt.jeweller via Facebook messenger.

Shop manager Amy Franklin said: “Thanks to the generosity of one of our customers we are hoping to raise a nice amount for the charity.

“We’ve never done anything like this before but we are hoping for plenty of bids.”

The ring is on display in the shop’s window and bidding closes at 5pm on September 29.

The winning bidder will be notified on October 2.
