Cloned vehicles suspected of being used in catalytic converter thefts seized after police pursuits

Bromsgrove Editorial 4th Feb, 2020   0

TWO  cloned vehicles which police believe have been used in thefts of catalytic converters have been seized after dramatic stops on the M5 and the M42.

Six police vehicles from Worcestershire’s Operational Policing Unit were used to bring the pursuits to an end yesterday, using TPAC techniques and the suspects in the van and Citroen Picasso were arrested.

TPAC techniques are when – in incidents where those being chased fail to stop – police vehicles pull alongside and in front to end the pursuit.

Several areas, including Bromsgrove and Droitwich, have been targeted over the past few months by catalytic converter thieves.

The parts of the exhaust they steal contain a number of high value metals.
