A MARATHON effort from young Stoke Prior runner Charlie Barnes-Maiden will help struggling Chester Zoo which has been hard by having to shut during the Coronavirus lockdown.
The venue is one of the ten-year-old’s favourite places to visit and he is very passionate about wildlife and the conservation work that goes on there.
Charlie read an article in a newspaper shown to him by his parents who offered to donate to the zoo.
But – as Charlie had been out running regularly with his dad James along the canals during the pandemic – he suggested he complete a sponsored 26.2mile run in 5km installments.
This week the football-mad Wolves fan completed his task but he is still hoping people will boost his already impressive £576 total.
