The routes they conquered, near the Lickey Hills, are thought to be among the toughest in the Midlands, posing the professionals with rocky gradients and rough terrain.

Despite that, many passed the finish line in record times.

Mark Ince of WSP UK, earned the title of the fastest male under 45 after finishing the 10k in 36mins, 32sec.

Hot on his tail was Kate Green of Avison Young who claimed the fame of the fastest female under 45, coming in at a 41mins, 58sec.

Partnering up with Birmingham-based charity St Basil’s, houses have been renovated and a safe, secure place is available for young people at risk of homelessness.

St Modwen chief exectuive Mark Allan said: “It was an honour for St Modwen to both organise and sponsor this year’s Midlands run for LandAid and welcome so many leading organisations to our home in Longbridge.”

He added the work the charity did reinforced the organisations’ aims to have a positive impact on communities.

Paul Morrish, chief executive of LandAid, said ti was great to see so many runners take part, adding the cash would make a real difference to the lives of homeless young people in the region, giving them the support they need for a brighter future.
