A CHARITY motorcycle ride has raised £2,311.05 to support of local woman Claire Flatt who is living with cervical cancer, writes Ryan Smith.

Claire, who was diagnosed with both cervical and breast cancer in August 2017 when she was just 33, has donated the money to Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust.

The ride was attended by around 85 bikers who each paid £10 each towards to charity and the coffers were boosted further by tickets to a raffle which had several biker-themed prizes up for grabs.

The event was organised by Claire’s friend Laura Smith who owns the Women Only Motorcycle Training in Redditch.

Daisy, a representative of Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust in Southend, was presented with the cheque.

Laura said: “I was inspired by Claire’s incredible positive outlook and determined attitude – she is just incredible.

“Jo’s Trust have been a huge help whilst supporting the charity ride and in particular Daisy, who was my point of contact at the charity.

“Our hope is to encourage more women to attend their smears and to also educate everyone about the causes of cervical cancer.”

The JustGiving page – www.justgiving.com/fundraising/WOMTcharityride – is still open for anyone who still wants to donate to the cause.
