AN RESTAURANT in Catshill is offering to deliver free meals on Mondays to people who are over 60 and isolated to stop COVID-19 spreading.

Jomir Uddin, director of the Little Bengal, said he wanted to do something to help the community which had supported his restaurant.

He said: “We have a lot of loyal customers in the area and we feel we need to give something back.

“The whole Catshill community needs to come together and get through this tough time.”

Jomir will operate the scheme every Monday between 5pm and 7pm and has stocked up from his suppliers to ensure he has enough ingredients.

“I have three delivery drivers who will be getting around to as many people as possible.

“We can leave the food by the door and then call or message the people to let them know.”

Catshill councillor Shirley Webb, who is also the portfolio holder for health and wellbeing, said: “It is really warming to see so many local people and business rallying together in these uncertain times.

“I would really like to thank Jomir and Little Bengal for their very kind thoughts on how they can support their local community.”

Over 60s wanting to find out more or book a place should call Jomir on 07506 677506.
