Catshill Methodist Church to hold 'Blue Christmas' service for those feeling down during the festive season

A SPECIAL carol service is being held for those who get the blues at Christmas.

The ‘Blue Christmas’ event will take place at 7pm on Tuesday, December 18, at Catshill Methodist Church.

A number of people feel down during the festive season for a number of reasons, including the death of a loved one or the breakdown of a relationship.

Others do not feel like rejoicing because of problems such as redundancy or financial difficulties or living with health issues, along with the shortest days and the long, cold dark nights which can increase the negative feelings.

Minister Rev Anne Smith said the service was about being aware of the needs of the people, either within the church family or beyond the walls of the church.

It also gives them the opportunity to reflect on both the issue that concerns them and the hope that God can provide.

“We want to offer that hope to anyone who feels the joyfulness of Christmas is a little too much to bear.”
