Can you help pack boxes in Barnt Green for Operation Christmas Child?

AN APPEAL has been launched for people to help pack parcels at St Andrew’s Church in Barnt Green this Saturday, October 19, as part of the annual Operation Christmas Child campaign.

Organiser Rosemary Aveyard and church members will hold their packing party from 10am to 2pm so children in Malawi who would not otherwise get Christmas presents can receive some this Yuletide.

Volunteers will be tasked with packing gifts into boxes in return for as much tea, coffee and cake as they can manage.

Rosemary said: “Everyone is welcome to come and help – we want as many people as possible to come and join us.”

Last year St Andrew’s Church and St Andrew’s School sent more than 350 boxes between them.

Gifts for the boxes are collected throughout the year but more are always welcome.

“I was part of the team that took boxes to Malawi.

“It’s hard to describe the joy we saw – you could contribute to that joy this year,” added Rosemary.
