KIND-HEARTED pupils from Bromsgrove’s St John’s Middle School have raised more than £400 for NewStarts’ foodbank and homeless charity Centrepoint by taking part in a sleepout.
The children even did their own shopping for food to give to NewStarts and the charity’s chief executive Marion Kenyon visited the school this week to pick up the collection.
The school has been providing the charity with food items as part of an ongoing project and then 12-year-old Ruby Bennett came up with the idea for her and fellow students to sleep outside so even more could be donated.
Marion said: “The young people are showing how much they care for their community and I think it’s absolutely wonderful.”
