BROMSGROVE’S Prezzo restaurant is set to close, the firm has confirmed.
We were told by a resident it would happen early next month but the company said ‘it did not have a confirmed date at this time’ and did not go into detail about the staff or jobs.
“The decision to close this location was made as part of the larger restructuring plan announced by Prezzo Limited earlier this year,” added a spokesperson.
One diner Jeevan Jeyaratnam, who contacted The Standard, said he was very disappointed by the news.
“I visit at least a dozen times a year.
“Whilst they have not been immune to the struggles chain restaurants have endured in recent times, there was every reason to believe that the Bromsgrove branch was holding its own.”
He added it was a blow to the High Street as it was a ‘positive attractor’ which brought people into town that would have otherwise not come here.
“Another sizeable and empty shop space on the main thoroughfare is going to do more damage to the town’s already unconvincing image, and will rob locals of one of the better destinations on an already beleaguered high street.”
