BROMSGROVE’S Poundland is one of ten stores which has been chosen to pilot a new value fishing bait range, writes Kate Duffy.

Steve Barraclough, commercial fishing expert, has worked closely with the company on the products so they will appeal to anglers.

Since the age of nine, Steve has been fishing for top international teams, including the world-renowned Barnsley Blacks.

He has also secured sponsorship deals with many class leading brands, such as his current partner Browning Fishing.

In addition, he’s competed across the country winning multiple big prize-pot competitions like the White Acres Festival and the Angling Times Winter League.

Steve said: “I will be using this bait bank-side because I know its right – from every angle.”

The 19 individual products, priced between £1 and £2, include pellets, fish oil and breadcrumbs, giving keen anglers a chance to fish without spending a fortune.

The range has been created using the same ingredients and some of the same UK-based suppliers as the big-ticket brands.

The new range is being piloted in ten stores this week.

Poundland expects to bring an even bigger range to all stores at the beginning of close course fishing season, in March 2020.
