A BROMSGROVE powerlifter has returned to the UK with four medals after representing England at the Commonwealth Powerlifting Championships.
Kelly Phasey, who owns a gym on Windsor Road, Redditch, achieved Bronze in Squat and Deadlift, and two Silvers in Bench and for ‘overall performance’.
The championships, held in Canada, ran from September 15 to 21.
“I am absolutely delighted to have won so many medals, particularly as I was representing my country in St. John’s Newfoundland and Labrador for the first time,” said Kelly.
“I was ranked fourth going into the competition, so to finish Silver overall is outstanding.”
Following her success, the self-funded athlete has pledged to spend one hour each week helping someone with mental health issues.
“I want to help people with their health, morale, self-esteem, fitness and well-being.
“I will of course require the help of friends, family and followers on social media to help me reach out by sharing far and wide, tagging people you feel will benefit.”
