Bromsgrove's Avoncroft Museum to hold traditional May Day celebrations on bank holiday Monday

THERE will be a traditional Maypole and Morris dancing at Bromsgrove’s Avoncroft Museum on bank holiday Monday, May 6, to herald the arrival of spring.

May Day will be celebrated as it has been for centuries and the event, which starts at 10.30am, will also include outdoor theatre and music.

The Fabularium will bring its medieval outdoor theatre pageant, Carnival of the Animals, music, acrobatics, puppetry and story-telling.

And there will be traditional entertainment and activities for families, including archery, pony rides, fair rides, miniature train rides and birds of prey demonstrations.

Costumed re-enactors will bring the historic buildings to life, showing how May Days were celebrated during different eras.

The Edwardian Tea Room will offer hot and cold refreshments and a barbecue will serve locally-sourced sausages.

Normal admission charges apply with additional charges for some activities which can be booked on the day.
