BROMSGROVE has been chosen as one of 36 new locations in the UK to have top-of-the-range broadband, writes Carrie Eddins.
Openreach, the UK’s digital infrastructure company announced on Friday that the district would be receiving future-proof broadband as part of its full fibre roll-out over the next 12 months
The new broadband available will be among the fastest in the UK and mean people would be able to download a two-hour HD movie in just 16 seconds.
Overall 74 locations across the UK have now been included in the Openreach’s multi-billion pound Fibre First Programme
Openreach recently raised its target for full fibre connections from 3million to 4million premises by March 2021, with a target to reach 15million homes and businesses by the mid-2020s
Cliver Selley, chief executive of Openreach, said: “We’re pressing ahead with our investment and Openreach engineers are now building in communities all over the country, keeping us on track to deliver against the biggest ambitions we set out in May.
“The Government wants to see a nationwide full fibre network and we’re keen to lead the way in helping it achieve that.”
