A BROMSGROVE solicitors is the latest company to support the town’s Men In Sheds scheme, writes Rebecca Perry.

Thursfields Solicitors have backed the project which offers older men and women the chance to get together, learn and share new skills.

The shed contains tools, machinery, work benches and raw materials to construct community projects or raise money for the shed.

The group is a supportive and friendly setting which anyone can join and is aimed at tackling the loneliness and social confinement felt with increasing age.

Members meet from 10am to 2pm, Mondays to Thursdays at Unit 1, Metal Ores Industrial Estate, 138 Hanbury Road, Stoke Prior.

Jo Hughes, marketing executive at Age UK Bromsgrove, Redditch and Wyre Forest, said research had shown there were few activities available to older men which was why it was so important schemes, such as Men In Sheds, continued.

Thursfields has bought a year-long share in the scheme for £100 following the appeal by Age UK Bromsgrove, Redditch and Wyre Forest which was featured in The Standard.
