AN APPEAL has been launched by Bromsgrove singer Lucy Shaw to get in touch with a 96-year-old woman who inspired her to write a new song while she was waiting in A&E at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Lucy said she was sat next to the incredible lady who was from Birmingham and born in 1922.

Gwendolen spoke about her extraordinary life, living through the war, falling in love and how times had changed.

Lucy said: “Gwendolen made our time in A&E more bearable with her infectious laugh, positive outlook on life and wonderful character.

“As a singer-songwriter and guitarist, I was inspired to write a song about Gwendolen’s fascinating life and I would love to be reunited with her so she can hear it.”

Gwendolen also mentioned growing up in Shrewsbury and having a son-in-law

Anyone who knows Gwendolen or can help Lucy can message on her Facebook page.
