TRAVELLING around the world seems pretty unlikely at the moment but staff and members at Bromsgrove Rugby Club are doing just that during a virtual fund-raiser for the NHS Charities Together and the club.

The team, inspired by the efforts of Col Tom Moore, began their quest last Monday to run, cycle, swim or walk 25,000miles in the ‘Around the World in 80 Days’ challenge.

As well as Bromsgrove RFC members, England rugby player Lark Davies and former Worcester Warrior Duncan Roke are also both in the line up.

Speaking before the challenge club captain Bobby Green said: “The response from members within the club to be part of this has been fantastic and we hope it captures the public’s imagination and we raise as much money as possible for such a fantastic cause.

“We are under no illusions it is going to be a tough challenge as we have to complete 300 miles a day as a team but we are raring to go.”

Yesterday they completed a massive 683miles and had completed the first fifth of the challenge, reaching the 5,000mile mark.

Bromsgrove Rugby Club has more than 400 mini and junior members as well as running four adults side.
