FOLLOWING resident Elizabeth Cooke sending a 24-page dossier to Bromsgrove District Council slamming Sanders Park, Standard chief reporter Lorna Morris headed down to the park to see first hand what park users thought about it.

Here is what they had to say:

Iain Grant, 60, travels from Longbridge to the park two days a week.

“I like it a lot and come here with my wife who also looks round the shops in the town centre.

“We talk to a lot of people and they’re really friendly.

“It brings us into the area, if it wasn’t for Sander’s Park I wouldn’t come to Bromsgrove.”

Tanya Dyer, 71, from Bromsgrove, added: “They are improving the park at the moment but the brook has been left and all the slabs are falling in.

“Its used well and is lovely.

“It is one of the only things that Bromsgrove has really.”

Sue Anderson, 68, from Aston Fields, told us: “It looks pretty when it’s cleaned up but it is very muddy by the play area, my dog just rolls around in it.

“I know they have spent money on the brook.

“It is generally litter free, there are lots of dog bins and the play area is lovely for the children.”

She added the main problem the park had was the graffiti.

Peter West, 72, from Bromsgrove, said: “There’s always improvements to be made and it is not long until the brook is finished.

“The play area is fantastic, I come here everyday with my dog and everyone is so friendly.

“It’s a lovely place”.

Carole Hopkins from Bromsgrove said: “There are bits that need improving and it does get pretty muddy.

“It is a well-used and a well-loved park and generally speaking, I think it is great.

“Although there have been times when it has been extremely icy and it has been lethal to walk on.”

Laura Polotnek-Jones, 38, travels from Rubery to get to Sanders Park.

She said: “I think it is a really lovely park and really friendly.

“I travel here just for this park as I don’t really like the parks near where I live.

“It is maintained very well and the free car park makes a difference as well, I don’t have any gripes with the park at all.”
