SEVERAL schools will take part in this year’s Bromsgrove Holocaust Memorial Day event to mark the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.

The Memorial Service which this year has the theme ‘stand together’, is next Monday, January 27 at Parkside on Market Street at 11am.

South Bromsgrove High School’s ‘South Sisters’ will be among those involved.

Coun Rod Laight, chairman of Bromsgrove District Council, said: “Everyone is welcome to join us at what is a very touching event.

“It is important that every year we set aside time as a community to remember and think about the tragedy and atrocity of the Holocaust, so that such a thing may never be allowed to happen again.

“The event is completely free and will be open to all.”

In the Holocaust 11million people including 6million Jews were systematically murdered in Europe between 1941 and 1945 by the Nazis and their collaborators.
