Bromsgrove Police have closed the Whitford Road following a burst water main.
Severn Trent engineers are on the scene and have dug a trench as they work to resolve the problem.
Motorists have been warned not to remove the barriers or try to drive down the road.
Severn Trent said engineers were working to repair a valve, close to the Kidderminster Road which could also be affected by the works.
The provider added the work could take up to four days to complete but they were working to get the repairs done as soon as possible.
