A MUM was alerted to an intruder in her Lickey End home in broad daylight by her young daughter’s screams.
Fearing for her daughter’s safety, the woman went straight to her daughter’s room at 12pm yesterday and as she did she heard the footsteps of the man leaving.
She then stayed with the little girl while she called the police.
It is thought the intruder entered the property through an unlocked door and police officers think it could have been an attempted burglary although nothing was taken.
Local Safer Neighbourhood Team Inspector Lee Page said: “This must have been an incredibly distressing experience and a full investigation into the attempt burglary is underway.
“The little girl was extremely brave at alerting her mother and we will be doing all we can to support the family.”
Officers have been trawling CCTV and carrying out house-to-house enquiries.
Insp Page urged witnesses or anyone with information about the incident to get in touch.
“I understand this will be alarming to the local community and as such we will be carrying out additional reassurance patrols in the area.”
Information can be given by calling 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
