THE MUM of a daughter who was diagnosed with schizophrenia at the age of 13 has written a book about the past 40 years and the battle to find answers.

Judith Millinchip’s Hidden Illness details the family’s search for advice and understanding as they strived to bring peace to their confused daughter.

Judith, who lives in Bromsgrove, said: “We went through unbearable times that all sufferers and their families go through, feeling helpless coping with her erratic behaviour but desperate to calm her distress.

“We were determined to find the help she needed and persevered, regardless of setbacks, to seek the professional attention necessary for the treatment of her illness.”

Tansie, known as Louise in the book, has been successfully treated with medication for the past 25 years and is now 53.

Judith added: “She is doing extremely well now – she is looking after us, rather than us looking after her.

“I want my story to give help, understanding and hope to those who have been through, and those going through such terrible times as we have.”

The book is available from £4.99 from Branded-4u in Barnt Green or can be ordered by calling 0121 445 3262.
