BROMSGROVE MP Sajid Javid has signed the Holocaust Educational Trust’s Book of Commitment and paid tribute to the work of Holocaust survivors who endlessly work to educate young people on the atrocity.
The signing coincides with today’s (Friday’s) Holocaust Memorial Day which remembers those murdered during the Holocaust and pays tribute to the extraordinary survivors who work tirelessly to educate young people on the subject.
Today marks the anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration and death camp Auschwitz-Birkenau, the site of the largest mass murder in history.
In the lead up to and on Holocaust Memorial Day, thousands of commemorative events are organised by schools, faith groups and community organisations across the country.
This year’s theme is How can life go on?’
Mr Javid said: “Holocaust Memorial Day is a reminder for us to call out bigotry and racism when we see it.
“It’s important that we learn from the horrors of the past and be strong enough to stand up and speak out in the face of hatred.
“Thank you to the HET for all the positive work you do to raise awareness and make sure we never forget.”
