A BROMSGROVE-based independent fostering agency has donated 70 items to the Basement Project’s foodbank.
Clifford House has been collecting food throughout the festive season after finding out from The Trussell Trust that December last year was the busiest month in the UK with 186,185 three-day emergency parcels handed out to those in need.
More shockingly, 78,536 were for children.
The increase equates to a 44 per cent rise than the monthly average for the 2018 to 2019 financial year.
Staff and foster carers from Clifford House, who provide suitable families for looked after children, filled boxes with tins and packets to give to The Basement Project, collecting around 70 items.
The food donated to the foodbank is given in emergency food parcels to people referred because they cannot afford to feed themselves and their families.
