A PERFECTLY timed phone call saved a man £800 when he became a garage door company’s 5,000th customer.

Bruce and Ros Grant, who own Bromsgrove-based Garage Doors Worcestershire Ltd, not only gave Martin Sanders the Horman up and over door, they also fitted it for free.

Mr Sanders has lived at his Redditch home for 34 years and this was the first replacement garage door since he moved there.

The 78-year-old said he was thinking of having the job done last year but waited when the pandemic came.

“By the summer the job genuinely needed doing so I contacted Garage Doors Worcestershire.

“I must have been dead lucky because when I placed the order with Bruce I was the 5,000th customer on his sales ledger.

“I’ve never won anything like this before and it came completely out of the blue.”

August was a momentous month for Garage Doors Worcestershire which also relocated to new premises in Stoke Prior after 18 years in a home office in Aston Fields.

Bruce said being closed during the lockdown gave them time to think about the business’ future – having expanded its team and services it offers over the past few years, they felt the time was right to move to a bigger premises.
