THE BROMSGROVE District street theatre has been hailed a great success after performances in the town centre, Catshill, Romsley, Wythall and Rubery.

Hundreds of families have been out and about to catch the shows which took place from July 29 to August 9.

Coun Peter Whittaker, Bromsgrove District Council’s Portfolio Holder for Community Safety and Leisure and Cultural Services, said: “It’s been a delight to see so many thousands of residents and visitors from across the community come out to enjoy the street theatre this year.

“People really seemed to enjoy the attractions and with the weather we’ve had it’s probably been one of the most well-attended summers for our outdoor events.”

He added the fun was not over yet with live bands every Sunday in the Jubilee Bandstand at Sanders Park and the town coming together at midday on September 16 to celebrate 50 years of Sanders Park.

“We’re working with the Bromsgrove Society to display photos and share memories from the last 50 years, you can listen to some live music and there will be circus performances and workshops, as well as classic cars, face painting, the Artrix Show Choir.”
