Bromsgrove Dementia Action Alliance hit the streets to raise awareness

Bromsgrove Editorial 3rd Jun, 2018   0

MEMBERS of the Bromsgrove Dementia Action Alliance, a volunteer organisation of local professionals aiming to raise awareness around Dementia, were out in force on Bromsgrove High Street recently in support of Dementia Action Week.

The group put on a fantastic event providing free dementia advice, live reminiscence music, a Thai Chi demonstration as well as free muffins for passers-by.

The event was supported by the Alzheimer’s Society, Home Instead Senior Care, VIP Day Centre, Age UK, Bromsgrove District Council, the fire service, police and many other organisations.

Annie Dixon-Dunn, owner of Home Instead Senior Care Redditch and Bromsgrove and Chair of the DAA said: “It was great to see so much support and interest from local people and organisations.

“One in three people over the age of 65 will be affected by dementia, and we all need to do as much as we can to ensure our towns improve and maintain their dementia friendly status.”

The Dementia Action Alliance is looking for more volunteers to get involved with this important work.
