BROMSGROVE Cricket Club has raised more than £2,720 in memory of one of its long-standing volunteers who died of prostate cancer in 2018.

The cash, which will go to the Prostate Cancer UK charity, was raised by club members who ran a total of 800km under the charity’s ‘Run the Month’ initiative.

Thirteen players – Matt Banham, Mark Burrell, Greg Chinn, Lewis Cordes, Henry Dwyer, Alistair Hickman, Adam Jones, Mark Meacham, Ryan Pedley, Matt Russell, Harry Smith, Will Tuffin and Mike Wyres – exceeded their original target of running 50km each.

They also smashed their sponsorship expectations by more than doubling their initial £1,000 target.

Prostate Cancer is the most common form of cancer in the U.K.

Over 47,500 people are diagnosed with the illness in the United Kingdom every year. For more information visit http://prostatecanceruk.org
