Bromsgrove Christmas Market launch: More to see than ever before

THIS year’s Christmas Market was launched earlier today (Friday, November 16) and there’s more to see than ever before.

The annual event, organised by the Friends of St John’s Church, now runs on both sides of Bromsgrove High Street.

Bromsgrove MP and Home Secretary Sajid Javid was at the launch to congratulate the local people involved.

He said: “It’s lovely to see all the different stalls here.

“Especially the charities which work so hard and the independent traders who make their own goods.

“Most of the people on the stalls are from Bromsgrove so it’s lovely to see the same faces come back each year.”

Among the traders are Bren Henderson with her stained glass, Sarah’s Feisty Flavours’ jams and preserves and Wychbold Fudge.

Jane Spencer, owner of The Ugly House stall, said: “I’m thrilled to be here for the fourth year running.

“It’s always a good atmosphere and there’s so much to see.”

Items sold include hand made coat hooks, key racks and dog lead hooks.

Chalk boards made from recycled picture frames, enamelled jewellery, boxes, vases and decorative enamelled panels are also on sale.

Local visitor Ann Bell said: “I’ve run a stall here in previous years but this time I’m just happy to come along and see what other people are selling.

“I’ll come back on Saturday too.”

The Christmas Markets are again supporting local charities to help with fund raising for Christmas projects.

Friends of St John’s Chairman Jo Slade said: “We have a great partnership with Bromsgrove District Council and I’m glad to see that continue.

“We are happy to support local crafters and charities.”

The Christmas Market will be open for one more day, between 10am and 6.30pm tomorrow (Saturday, November 17).
