A BROMSGROVE water skier will compete for Team GB at the European Championships next month after being sponsored by local restaurant Waz’s Bistrot.
Talented Danielle Halford, aged 13, was first introduced to the sport when she was just four-years-old.
She now competes for Team GB against older and more experienced competitors.
Danielle trains all year round in all weather conditions and says she is 100 per cent committed to the sport.
She can reach speeds of more than 60kph while jumping over ramps and performing tricks.
She said: “The help that I got from Waz’s Bistrot allowed me to get to my first big international competition and has set me on a path for even greater success next year.
“2020 will be a really big competition year – my goal is to represent the Under 14 GB team at the 2020 European Championships and make the trick and jump finals.
“I also want to win the Under 14 Girls’ British National Championships in Trick, Slalom, Jump and Overall in 2020.
“I order to do this I need to train over the whole of the winter working hard on tricks, and my jump technique.
“Spring skiing will start again at Easter when, ahead of the European Youth Championships 2020 I would like to travel to Sesena for familiarisation and training.
“I hope that my relationship with Waz will continue through this exciting year ahead.”
Owner of Waz’s Bistrot, Wassim Draoui, said: “It is our pleasure to help a local Bromsgrove youngster fulfil her dream. She is such a talent in a tough sport.
“We wish her the best of luck in the world and hope one day she will bring back a gold medal to the Bistrot.”
