BIRMINGHAM City legend Paul Tait will kick off a charity football match at South Bromsgrove High School at 6.30pm on Friday, July 13.

Proceeds from the annual AFH staff v advisers encounter will go to the Birmingham Women’s Hospital – the company’s charity of the year.

Paul Tait made history in 1995, when he scored the first-ever golden goal to decide a professional tournament, in Birmingham’s 1-0 win against Carlisle United in the League Trophy final at Wembley.

As well as making his name at St Andrew’s, he also played for Millwall,

Northampton Town, Oxford United and Cypriot first division side Nea Salamina FC.

Since 2006 the father-of-four has devoted his time to helping as many children as possible participate in and enjoy sport in his role as head coach of Midland Soccer Coaching, which runs weekly coaching sessions for children of all footballing abilities across the Midlands.

Paul said he was delighted to be kicking off a match to raise funds for such a great cause.

“And as a great fan of grassroots football, I’m looking forward to see the AFH teams give their best.”

Admission to the match is £2, and all proceeds will go to Birmingham Women’s Hospital.

Last month a team of AFH staff raised more the £3,100 for the hospital in the Great Birmingham 10K run, while May’s bacon sandwich morning added £20 to the total for the year which currently stands at £5,200.
