BELBROUGHTON is now sparkling for the season after the village held its own Christmas lights switch-on.

The button was pushed by former Bromsgrove District Council civic head and parish councillor Janice Boswell, Miss Worcetershire contender Laura Beth Morgan and Margaret Hartle.

And with carol singing, plenty of mulled wine and mince pies, there was a real festive feel in the village.

Laura told The Standard: “The turn-out was fantastic and it was a great atmosphere.”

Laura’s fund-raising campaign, for the Primrose Hospice and the Miss England charity Beauty With a Purpose, has now reached £708.

The Miss Worcestershire final will be held at Worcester Warriors’ Sixways Stadium on January 10.

She said she had been having great fun getting out and meeting so many amazing people.

A Christmas-themed Fairfield Festive Extravaganza will be held in Fairfield tonight (Friday) which promises plenty of fun for all the family.

The event, at 6.30pm at Fairfielld Village Hall, will feature local choirs, singers, illusionists, magicians and more showcasing their talents and even a visit from Father Christmas. It will be hosted by Laura Beth Morgan and young budding presenter Oliver Raybould.

Tickets are £3 for adults, £2 for children and £10 for a family.
