FORMER pupils from Aston Fields Middle School raised more than £400 to buy trees and have returned to plant them to help combat the climate emergency.
Sophie, Ellie, Erin, Mya, Danni and Niamh collected the cash by undertaking a sponsored cycle while they were at the school.
Children are challenged in their science lessons to take action by physically doing something to reduce the rate of climate change.
In July the enterprising group of year eights devised the bike ride plan.
They have since moved onto South Bromsgrove High and the cash has been used to purchase the native trees in the school field.
Earlier this month they returned to Aston Fields and were joined for the planting by some current year sevens.
Teacher Miss McNamara said: “I am so proud of the girls for their determination to really make a difference.”
