Aston Fields Middle School holds 'All Different, All Equal Day' to promote diversity

ASTON Fields Middle School held an ‘All Different, All Equal’ day to encourage its pupils to appreciate, respect and celebrate a range of cultures.

The youngsters were told they could build a more cohesive and accepting community by finding common values in others.

Year five pupils learned about Indian traditions and created friendship bracelets, Mehndi patterns on paper hands and read the Hindu story of Rama and Sita.

They also researched information about its cities, population, languages and religions.

Year sixes ate Polish food while researching Eastern European countries and the year sevens played the Samba drums and learnt about the Caribbean.

Children in Year eight were tasked with creating their own Manga character as they researched The Far East.

Acting headteacher Carole Teer said: “It was a wonderful day celebrating cultural diversity – an important message to us all.

“Thank you to all the staff and pupils who made it another day to remember.”
