89-year-old Bromsgrove woman has £300 stolen in distraction burglary

A WARNING has gone out to residents to be on their guard after an 89-year-old partially blind woman had £300 stolen in a distraction burglary in Bromsgrove earlier today.

Two men knocked on her door in Housman Close around 12.54pm claiming they were builders who had been working next door.

They said they needed to go through to her back garden to clear some rubbish.

One went into her garden while the other one stayed in the house.

After they had gone she found the cash had been stolen from her purse.

One of the men was wearing a cream coloured jumper and a blue baseball cap.

The next door neighbours have since confirmed no work had been carried out on their properties.

The police have warned residents to be vigilant and to spread the message that the bogus callers were operating in the town.

Witnesses or anyone with any information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
