AN 84-YEAR-OLD has beaten the Coronavirus after a month-long stay at the Worcestershire Royal Hospital, health chiefs have revealed.

Brian Pritchard left the Royal today (Tuesday) at the end of his four week battle against the COVID-19 virus.

The proud husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather from Worcester is one of the many thousands in the UK to have recovered from the disease.

A further six people have died from coronavirus in Worcestershire hospitals, according to figures released on Monday (April 6), bringing the total number of deaths in the county to 46.

“The patients whose deaths have been announced so far were aged between 54 and 98. Our thoughts and condolences are with the families and friends of those patients at this very difficult and distressing time,” a trust spokesperson said.

Britain’s coronavirus death toll has increased to 6,159 after 786 more patients died, the biggest day on day increase seen during the crisis.
