A FANCY dress event, a supermarket sweep and a bake off are all being held at Rubery’s Co-op this month to highlight mental health and wellbeing and raise funds for MIND.
Events kicked off this week with three 5k runs and from this Sunday, August 9, staff at the store will be busy baking against employees from other Co-op stores. The cakes will be sold for the cause throughout the week and a special creation, featuring the Co-op logo surrounded by heads, will be auctioned off.
Next Sunday, August 16, staff will be getting creative with fancy dress costumes in exchange for donations.
And from August 23 to 30 children can go ‘wild in the aisles’ with the shop’s very own supermarket sweep.
Entry into a prize draw is £1 with two chances a day to undertake a sweep.
On the Sunday the top five will go head-to-head to win a £10 voucher and they will keep the meal they collect.
Team leader Dawn Poolton said: “We’ve set a fund-raising target of £1,000 but we are hoping to raise much more.
“The last few months have had a big impact on people’s mental health so this is the perfect time to be supporting MIND.”
