THE WORLD premiere of a children’s opera telling the story of Goddess Sabrina who is said to inhabit and look after the River Severn will be staged at Bromsgrove’s St John’s Church, writes Natalia Lejzak.
‘Sabrina: Spirit of the Severn’ by Worcester composer Claire Prewer will be performed by the Orchestra of St John (OSJ) at 5pm on Saturday, July 20.
A local children’s choir have been working hard with the OSJ to showcase the piece.
It is one of two events the orchestra is putting on next weekend – the annual ‘raise the roof’ Gala Concert will be bring the popular Bromsgrove Festival to a close from 7.30pm next Sunday, July 21.
It will feature a very ‘uplifting programme of orchestral music’ by Wagner, Grieg and Sibelius.
Tickets are £5 for Sabrina and £10 for the Gala concert when bought in advance at www.osjbromsgrove.org or from Decanter Spirit.
