HE STAR of the Remarkable Mrs Cox radio show is back for a new series.

The comedy, billed as Golden Girls meets Last of the Summer Wine, centres on Emily Cox, now 102, and her two friends who live in the same block of old maisonettes in Wychbold.

Flo Wilson – a chugger-turned-rebel and public school brainbox Valeria Onions, along with Emily, embark on some twilight hedonism.

In the original series by Euan Rose, Emily was on lockdown in Bromsgrove during the Coronavirus lockdown.

As events in real life unfolded, we were given Emily’s take on the pandemic and the situations through her conversations with her  late husband Lenny.

Among the events Emily gave her views on bulk-buying, the daily press conferences and updates, Captain Tom’s amazing fund-raising campaign and the Prime Minister being struck down by ‘the pop’ – Emily’s name for ‘Corona’ – a reference to the soft drink deliveries in Birmingham in the 1970s and 80s.
