A SUMMER Showcase will be staged on Thursday, June 14, by the Bromsgrove Folk Club, writes Ellen Heaselgrave.

The club hosts three or four of these events a year which are designed to allow new artists to introduce themselves to the Catshill Club audience and possibly gain a full gig at the club or Folk Festival.

The performers are always high quality and produce a variety of music from the folk genre.

This month the line-up includes Malfunction, a Brummie duo influential on the Birmingham folk scene in 70s and 80s.

Admission fees range from £7 for non-members, £5 for over-25 members and £2.50 for under-25 members.

This includes free membership for the rest of the year.

Bob Bignell from the club said new members were always made very welcome.

publicity and manager of Artist Booking for the club stressed that this club is always open to newcomers, who will be ‘made to feel more than welcome.’

Bromsgrove Folk Club meets at Catshill Club, Meadow Road, on the second and last Thursday of the month.
