A month of great summer music at Bromsgrove's Artrix throughout June

THIS MONTH Artrix is bursting with at the seams with live performances from rock and pop tributes to world music and folk, writes Elliot Ball.

Summer Of Love, featuring hits by The Mamas & Papas, Janis Joplin, Jimi Henrdix and more, comes to the stage at 8pm at Artrix tonight, Saturday June 8.

The show is an eclectic explosion of flowers, psychedelia, freedom, peace and love and, of course, timeless music that inspired a generation.

The greatest 60s party in town, Summer Of Love features all the hits from one of music’s most influential eras, including California Dreaming, San Francisco, Turn Turn, Turn, Somebody To Love, Happy Together, Brown Eyed Girl, All Along The Watchtower and more than 40 classic songs from the summer that changed the world.




Tickets are £24 each or £22 for concessions.

On Wednesday, June 12, as part of his 50th Anniversary tour, TV and recording star Joe Longthorne comes to Artrix to entertain his audience with plenty of songs, impressions and a sensational live band.


On Thursday, June 16, the centre is running its second monthly Easy Sundays.

It is new for this summer and offers audiences the chance to relax with a feelgood film, live music and street food.

Master folk and acoustic songwriter and storyteller Steve Knightley comes to the venue’s Studio on June 21 followed by cutting edge world-folk musicians Moishe’s Bagel on June 22.

Irish quintet Lúnasa are playing Artrix on June 25 and are currently regarded among ‘the hottest Irish acoustic bands in the world’.

On June 26, Exhale will provide an evening of song, dance and musical theatre by young people from North Worcestershire in aid of the Lung Transplant Department at Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Dagadana will play Artrix on June 27 before they hit the stage at Glastonbury. The band triumphantly merges elements of Polish and Ukrainian culture through jazz, electronic and world music.

The main auditorium will soon host classic hits Smooth Criminal, Billie Jean and much more when The King Of Pop – The Legend Continues arrives in Bromsgrove on June 29.

Rounding off a varied month of musical excellence is Redditch Orchestra’s Last Night Of The Proms on June 30.
